Rangarirai Chidziva (51) and Justin Kabeta (35) who are employed by X-Treme Oils Service station appeared before Magistrate Mr Kudakwashe Jarabini. They were remanded to January 13 on US$200 bail each. It is the State’s case that on December 24 at around 6pm, Chidziva cashed US$31 300 before handing over duty to Kabeta. It is alleged that the two connived to steal the money and Chidziva indicated to their employer that his daily takings had amounted to US$31 300 and that the money was in the safe.
Chidziva then left the keys for the safe with Kabeta without the knowledge of the employer who had issued a directive to Chidziva to lock the safe and take the keys with him. Kabeta kept the keys up to about 2330hrs when he raised an alarm that the safe was not locked. He said the safe was partially open and there was no money.
The matter was immediately reported to the police. Ms Molyn Mutamangira appeared for the State.
