PAMUSHANA High continued with their dominance at the Tanganda Tea Under-17 netball championships when they won the national finals at Nyameni High School in Marondera yesterday.
Pamushana won the event for a record fourth time after defeating Sikhuleli High of Bulawayo 26-21 in a tightly-contested final. To reach the finals Pamushana got the better of Mvutu High 13-5 in the quarter-finals before beating Mweyamutsvene 17-16 in another close contest in the semi-finals.
Sikhuleli beat Jekwa High of Mashonaland East 16-8 in the quarter-finals before upsetting Chekai Secondary School 15-11.
Sikhuleli’s Mitchell Muzanenhamo was crowned player of the tournament and pocketed $250.
National Association of School Heads president Johnson Madhuku, who is also Pamushana headmaster, thanked the sponsors Tanganda Tea for supporting netball.
“We are very grateful to the sponsors and we thank them for the support and we look forward to have such support from our sponsors. We are happy for the achievement and we are going to continue working hard and winning the event for a record fourth time is good for us,” he said.
Meanwhile, BancABC will host a six-team boy’s soccer tournament at Alexandra Park School today. The event will see feature hosts Alex, Borrowdale, Louisiana, Gateway and Maranatha.
