NORTHERN Region Division One Soccer League clubs will again this year battle it out in the Yadah TV Knock-out tournament to be staged in the second half of the season.
The league’s chairman Willard Manyengavana said they have engaged a number of potential sponsors for the league and confirmed that the tournament held last year is on again this year.
“We are talking to a few corporates and we are very hopeful that some will come on board before the end of the season.
“But we also have Yadah TV tournament which should be coming up soon.
“The tournament is on, we had discussions with the prophet (Walter Magaya). We should be finalising on the details soon and we are looking forward to a perfect second half. We will confirm the date of the draw and when the games will commence, but it’s definitely coming,” said Manyengavana.
Last year, the tournament, which was sponsored to the tune of $30 000 by Yadah TV, featured teams that were in the top eight at the end of the first half of the season. Manyengavana said they were going to use the same criteria unless there were changes during the ongoing discussions with the sponsors. Ngezi Platinum are the Cup’s defending champions and they are currently leading the championship race in the league with 39 points.
