UNITED States based marathon runner Pardon Ndlovu says he is physically and mentally focused for tomorrow’s marathon race at the Rio Olympics. Ndlovu will carry Zimbabwe’s slim hopes of an Olympic medal together with veteran runners Wirimai Zhuwawo and Cuthbert Nyasango. The trio will get off the blocks at 2.30PM. The Former Augusta University cross country graduate assistant coach who finished the 2016 Houston Marathon in 2hours,17 minutes,32seconds said he prepared well for the gruelling race and felt proud to represent his country.

Zhuwawo has a marathon personal best of 2hours, 12 minutes,38 seconds while Nyasango’s time stands at 2 hours, 12minutes, 08seconds.

“I just want to be the best that I can be on the day. I want to make sure that I stay relaxed, my legs are fresh and I am mentally focused to what I am supposed to do on the day. The focus now is on real execution,” said Ndlovu in an interview he had with Zimbabwean media attaché at the Rio Olympics and veteran television sports broadcaster Merit Munzwembiri.

Ndlovu said he wasn’t feeling any heat ahead of the meet and felt comfortable running alongside veteran fellow countrymen in Zhuwawo and Nyasango adding that he was also excited just to take part in the Games.

“I am excited to take part; it calls for great determination to represent my country on that day. I don’t feel the heat, I feel comfortable that I have people around me who will be advising me,” said Ndlovu.
