RUWA police in conjunction with the area’s Crime Liaison Committee has advised parents to accompany their children to school, warning of suspected kidnappers on the prowl.
“A lot is happening out there and we are urging parents to accompany their children to and from school. Let us work together in protecting our children, especially the little ones.
“Do not stay at home focusing on social media while your children go to school on their own. Cases of children being kidnapped and involved in road accidents are increasing every day. Teach your children not to accept gifts from strangers or get into unknown vehicles.
“Do not write names on your children’s school bags because it becomes easy for the kidnappers to target the child,” said the Ruwa police.
The police said cases of child kidnapping are also affecting them emotionally.
“We are receiving cases every day of children being kidnapped and involved in road accidents, and it is affecting us emotionally as well.
“Parents please take care of your children; do not leave them to housemaids while you focus on other things like WhatsApp. Develop a habit of asking your children how they spent their day and everything that happened.
“The police do not take care of your children, but it is your duty as parents to do so.”
