A 42-year-old man yesterday pleaded guilty to stealing property worth over $2 million from Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.
Blessing Viga was convicted on his own plea of guilty by Harare magistrate, Evelyn Mashavakure.
He will be back in court tomorrow for sentencing.
The court heard that between December 20 last year, and February 15, Viga went to Parirenyatwa Hospital Wards B1-5 and removed 66 silver water tap heads, five bath mixers and five water sprouts.
Viga was arrested after a tip-off.
A tap and a spanner were recovered from Viga at the scene and a report was made to the police.
During interrogation, Viga admitted to stealing 66 taps, five bath mixers and fibre water sprouts in the wards.
He led police to Abigail Munyuki where they recovered four silver bath mixers and one silver tap.
Munyuki had been given the property for safe keeping.
The police also went to a shop along Rezende Street, where they recovered 38 taps, five sprouts and mixers from Richard Sagwati, who had bought the stolen property from Viga.
The stolen property is valued at $2 784 000.
Eurita Masunda appeared for the State.
