ZIMBABWE’s former Health Minister Dr David Parirenyatwa has been elected chairperson of the Society for AIDS in Africa (SAA).
He was elected at a meeting of SAA’s top officials in Ghana on Wednesday.
In a statement, SAA said they were confident that the newly-elected chairperson would take the organisation to greater heights.
“The new board presented by the President of SAA, Dr David Pagwesese Parirenyatwa pledged to follow the full footsteps of his predecessor in making sure that SAA’s voice and his advocacy role in Africa will be upheld.
“The President appreciates the professionalism of the SAA/ICASA Secretariat and promise to take the organisation to greater heights,” reads part of the statement.
Formed in 1989, SAA is an African-led and owned organisation that collaborates with national, regional and continental organisations to promote and institute policies that support responses to fight HIV and AIDS.
