SPEAKER of Parliament, Honourable Advocate Jacob Mudenda, has called on parliamentary staff to take a leading role in upholding accountability.

Addressing participants at the 2025 Annual Corporate Planning Workshop in the city this morning, Hon Mudenda stressed that accountability is not just a political responsibility but a fundamental duty of parliamentary staff.

“Accountability should be the cornerstone of parliamentary operations, influencing how resources are allocated and utilized. Parliament plays a central role in unlocking Treasury funds, as it is responsible for passing key financial bills, including the Appropriation and Finance Bills and thus accountability should be at the core of its operations,” he said.

The workshop, which runs until February 18, brings together parliamentary staff to strategize on enhancing efficiency and transparency in Parliament’s operations.
