Parly launches book

PARLIAMENT of Zimbabwe yesterday launched a book aimed at giving the public information related to the Legislature as part of efforts to take the august House to the people. The book, “A Guide to the Parliament of Zimbabwe,” was launched during a colourful ceremony that was attended by Vice Chancellors from various local universities, politicians, members of the Judicial Service Commission and Parliament’s development partners.
Addressing guests, Clerk of Parliament, Mr Austin Zvoma said the book was meant to demystify Parliament so that the public could identify themselves with it.

“Parliament of Zimbabwe, indeed like other Parliaments the world over, has been perceived as an ordinary institution lacking information about its operations and, therefore, far removed from its stakeholders,” said Mr Zvoma.
The book, said Mr Zvoma, would dispel the disbelief and skepticism and demonstrate that Parliament was an open and accessible institution to the public.
