Godfrey Chipare, the principal director (external relations) with the Parliament of Zimbabwe, has since been arrested.
He is now facing aggravated indecent assault, rape and assault charges.
Chipare was last Friday not asked to plead to the charges when he appeared before magistrate Mr Donald Ndirowei and was remanded to December 28 on US$300 bail.
He was also ordered to report once every fortnight on Fridays at Harare Central Police Station, continue residing at the given address and not to interfere with State witnesses, as part of the bail conditions.
Prosecutor, Ms Molyn Mutamangira alleges that Chipare was entrusted with the care of the girl since he was a family friend. The girl’s parents asked Chipare to accommodate her while she studied at Trust Academy College.
The girl reportedly did all the household chores since Chipare had become her legal guardian.
On several occasions between March and December this year, Chipare subjected the girl to sexual abuse each time he caught her misbehaving. He would threaten to report her misdemeanor to her parents if she refused to be intimate with him.
On December 9, Chipare assaulted the girl accusing her of damaging speakers and playing loud music.
