Pastor claims damages from Mupfurutsa’s estate

Fiona Machekeche, claiming the money from the estate.
The pastor, who claims to have worked as the late businessman’s public relations consultant and salesman, is also claiming a further US$3 000 from the same estate as outstanding salary.
Pastor Mudhumo said Mupfurutsa assaulted him in 2010 and the matter was reported at Harare Central Police Station. He accused the police of protecting Mupfurutsa while he was still alive.
The pastor cited unfair labour practice on the part of the late musician-cum businessman saying he had some witnesses who can testify on the outstanding salary.
The High Court in January accepted the will of the late Mupfurutsa and appointed Ms Fiona Machekeche of Machekeche and Partners as executor.
She is working together with Mr Tendai Mupfurutsa (junior), eldest son to the late businessman.
According to the will, two widows and their children share the property.
It also accommodates some relatives like the late businessman’s parents and siblings.
Mupfurutsa left behind considerable wealth, which will be distributed among Tendai Jnr and his siblings Rutendo, Kudakwashe and Munashe and his two wives.
The estate is composed of a fleet of vehicles, acres of land for subdivision into residential stands, major shareholding in five companies and various properties in Kuwadzana, Ruwa and Waterfalls.
His musical legacy was left for Tendai (jnr).  Early January, the family clashed over the appointment of an executor and two edict meetings failed to come up with an acceptable candidate. The beneficiaries had some disagreements on the suitable candidate to act as executor.
That prompted the Master of High Court to use his powers and appointed Ms Machekeche and Tendai (Jnr) as co-executors. Mupfurutsa died on December 29, 2011.
