Author and philanthropist, Dr Sydney Matekwe has launched his book, Understand Marriage which explores the gaps in addressing domestic violence.

The book aligns with the month of raising awareness against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

It will be launched at Batanai Mall in Harare.

Dr Matekwe is a distinguished pastor within the Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe (AFMiZ).

The book will provide essential insights into the dynamics of marriage and the intricacies of parenting, making it a highly anticipated addition to the literature on these subjects.

He explained that the book’s theme closely aligns with the objectives of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign and it is in sync with this year’s theme “UNITE to End Violence against Women: Every 11 Minutes, one woman is killed”.

“This timing is particularly significant, as the topics explored within the book like communication, love, parenting, intimacy, and finance closely align with the objectives of the campaign, which seeks to address and mitigate instances of domestic violence and other forms of intimate partner violence.

“Through exploring the intricacies of marriage and parenting, we can better address and mitigate instances of domestic violence and other forms of intimate partner violence,” said Dr. Matekwe.

The preacher explained that marriage is a sacred institution that requires effort, commitment, and understanding from both partners.

“Through this book, I aim to provide practical guidance and spiritual insights to help couples build stronger, more fulfilling relationships that are not marred with violence,” said Dr. Matekwe.

The launch will feature a series of activities, including a reading from the book, a question-and-answer session with Dr. Matekwe, and opportunities for attendees to engage with the author directly.

Dr. Matekwe, drawing from his extensive experience as both a pastor and a counsellor, imparts valuable insights that are both practical and spiritually enriching.

His writing reflects a deep understanding of the challenges couples face as well as offering guidance that is relevant to contemporary relationships.
