Chief Bunina yesterday confirmed fining Pastor Ndebele seven beasts when contacted for comment.
“Yes Ndebele was found guilty after his wife became chief witness in the case and he was fined seven beasts for the offence. The beasts will be given to the complainant, Mr Khumbulani,” he said.
Mr Khumbulani, who said he accepted the court’s ruling, said he was now waiting for the beasts to be delivered to his home by Pastor Ndebele.
“I am now waiting for Ndebele to deliver those beasts within a short period of time because I will be going to South Africa soon after Christmas. I want to see those beasts before I leave,” he said.
Mr Khumbulani said he still loved his wife despite the incident.
“We have two children with Noma and for the sake of my children, I will still accept her as my wife. I am engaging my in-laws over the matter because she was now with her parents following the embarrassing incident,” he said.
Meanwhile, Baptist Church officials in Gweru yesterday told Chronicle that Pastor Ndebele had been demoted from his position and instructed to leave the church house he was occupying.
“This was not the first time Pastor Ndebele has been brought before the church disciplinary committee over these cases. Following this latest incident, he has been demoted to an ordinary church member and has been instructed to vacate the church house within seven days,” he said.
Pastor Ndebele was not responding to his calls when contacted for comment yesterday.
Baptist Churches Bishop for the Midlands province, a Mr Moyo told Chronicle in a recent interview that he would not comment over the case insisting that the matter was church business.
“I think that’s private church business. Besides, I don’t discuss such matters over the phone, thank you,” said Bishop Moyo then.
