THE wheels of justice have started turning for a pastor with Bulawayo Adventist Church accused of allegedly indecently assaulting a married congregant who is also a senior lawyer in the city.
Pastor Brighton Ndebele (31) of Emganwini who was arrested last week, appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Charity Maphosa being charged with indecent assault.
He is alleged to have committed the offence after he forcibly hugged and fondled the buttocks of the victim who is also married to a prominent legal practitioner after a meeting in April in her office.
Allegations against the man of the cloth are that on 20 AprilA at around midday he went to the complainantas workplace to discuss church matters since the complainant is also the head of social committees in their church.
It is yet to be proven that after the meeting and when he was about to leave the office, Pastor Ndebele a?kindlya? asked for a hug from his shepherd-cum-complainant and she refused.
Realising that the Biblical scriptures in Mathew 7 verse 7 that advises one to ask and be given he had initially subscribed to failed to work, Pastor Ndebele rallegedly decided to take matters into his own hands when he forcibly grabbed the complainantas hand before dragging her by the waist.
The daring pastor then went on to allegedly grab the womanas buttocks while pressing her to his chest.
After the forced romance, the seemingly traumatised congregant reported the matter to one of the female congregants who reportedly advised her to report it to the police.
Investigations by the police later led to the arrest of Pastor Ndebele. He was, however, not asked to plead and was remanded out of custody to 21 July on free bail.
