A BAR manager, Tavimba Chikumba, is on the run following a violent incident that led to the death of a patron.

Tavimba, 22, is suspected of bashing Andrew Mukwasi, 35, at Mauya Sports Bar in St Mary’s.

Sources claim Tavimba accused Andrew of interfering in his dispute with a man known as Slindo.

Slindo had been banned from the bar due to excessive drinking and disruptive behaviour.

Eyewitnesses report that tensions escalated when Tavimba confronted Andrew.

In a fit of rage, he allegedly grabbed Andrew and forcibly ejected him from the bar, through a back exit.

Tavimba is alleged to have pushed Andrew onto a hard pavement and he suffered severe head injuries from his fall.

Despite being rushed to Chitungwiza Central Hospital, Andrew succumbed to his injuries the following day.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed that a murder investigation is underway and is appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of Tavimba.

“Police are looking into the circumstances surrounding this tragic case at a bar in Chitungwiza,” said Insp Chakanza.
