Admore Mbonda in Kariba
Patsaka Trust, in collaboration with Kazambabezifm, a community radio station based in Kariba, has donated hundreds of sanitary pads to vulnerable young girls and women in Nyaminyami Rural District Council’s Ward 2.
The initiative is part of the organisation’s corporate social responsibility. The donation was handed over this afternoon by Patsaka Trust administrator Mr Anwel Bepe, who expressed the importance of assisting the girl child.
“This donation is intended for young girls in rural areas who are vulnerable and lack access to sanitary wear,” said Mr Bepe
“We aim to ensure that communities and the girl child are protected. Access to sanitary wear is every child’s right, and Patsaka is committed to making a difference.”
Patsaka Trust’s marketing officer Ms Emilder Kurauone highlighted the significance of menstrual health hygiene.
“We are integrating menstrual health hygiene for disadvantaged girls from low-income families,” she said.
“Our goal is to keep these girls in school so that no girl child is left behind.”
Period poverty remains a pressing issue for millions of Zimbabwean girls, who struggle to afford sanitary materials and access necessary information.
The provision of appropriate sanitary and hygiene materials is critical, especially given the high costs associated with sanitary products, which are unaffordable to many in rural areas.
