DYNAMOS have asked rivals CAPS United to reimburse them what they paid for the services of Dominic Chungwa at the beginning of the year after the striker asked to return to the Green Machine.
The 29-year-old forward is keen to return to his old club after Harare businessman Farai Jere’s takeover of the team brought stability to CAPS United.
Simba Nhivi and Oscar Machapa are also angling for a move back to CAPS United.
Chungwa signed a two-year contract with Dynamos in February.
Dynamos secretary-general Webster Chikengezha yesterday revealed negotiations were taking place between the two teams. “It has always been our policy that we don’t stand in any player’s way if he wants to move away. But as is the common practice, if any club is interested in a player who is contracted to us they should be prepared to pay the transfer fees,” said Chikengezha.
“We have tabled our offer to CAPS United and we are waiting to hear from them. “But we will not take anything short of what we paid them when we bought the player considering that he has only served a few months into his contract.” Dynamos have added Takesure Chinyama, Zivanai Mhanda, Richard Kawondera and Rodreck Mutuma to their squad. “The club is willing to release (Nhivi). We have also made our offer known to his management team. It’s unfortunate I was not around today (yesterday) but I am sure the discussions have been taking place,” said Chikengezha.
DeMbare have since deregistered four players and since the rules allow a maximum of five, they might need to engage the authorities if their negotiations with both players are fruitful.
Team manager Richard Chihoro yesterday indicated Nhivi will not be part of their blockbuster clash against Highlanders at Barbourfields this Sunday.
“We are quite aware of the atmosphere in Bulawayo. People usually come out in big numbers and, obviously, the Highlanders supporters will be rooting vigorously behind their team,” said Chihoro.
“So we are telling our players to be strong mentally and be up for it. But such games are self-motivating. The boys know it and we can only expect to win in Bulawayo.” The Glamour Boys are looking to unleash Chinyama in that game.
Mutuma played in the last match against Hwange alongside new acquisition Kawondera.
Dynamos have not lost a league game to their opponents since a defeat in 2006 when the Bulawayo giants won the championship for the last time.
