BOSSO 90 midfielder Leroy Lunga struck twice to rescue Highlanders’ developmental side from defeat as they battled to a 2-2 draw against Zimbabwe Saints in a Zifa Southern Region Division One Week 12 encounter at White City Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The young Bosso outfit got off to the perfect start when Lunga opened the scoring to hand the visitors an early advantage.
Zimbabwe Saints, however, came back strongly after the break. Lesly Lunga restored parity before Phelias Sibanda put the hosts ahead, leaving Bosso 90 staring at defeat.
But Leroy Lunga had the final say, netting his second goal of the afternoon to ensure the points were shared in an entertaining contest.
Bosso 90 assistant coach Gift Lunga said his charges had worked hard in search of maximum points but were ultimately forced to settle for a draw.
“We knew they would come at us and we managed to frustrate them, leading to us getting an early goal. Unfortunately, we could not hold on to the lead,” said Lunga.
Zimbabwe Saints assistant coach Mthulisi Maphosa was left disappointed, feeling his side had done enough to secure all three points.
“I felt that when we got the lead, the match should have ended with us in front. I believe we should have won,” said Maphosa.
