Percy Tau bids emotional farewell to Al Ahly

SOUTH Africa’s Bafana Bafana soccer striker, Percy Tau, has penned an emotional farewell message to Egyptian giants Al Ahly, following his departure from the club.

Tau recently completed a move to Qatar Stars League side Qatar SC from Ahly, where he spent four years. He reportedly joined the Qatar club on a six-month deal.

But Qatar SC only announced Tau’s arrival on Monday evening via their social media platforms in a video.
The 30-year-old had a successful stint at the African football giants, which includes two Caf Champions League titles during his time in Egypt.

In an official statement issued on Tuesday, Tau described his stay at Al Ahly as ‘unforgettable’.
“Dear Al Ahly people, from day one, I was here to make history, and together we made it,” wrote the former Mamelodi Sundowns star.

“You, my beloved ones, have been my home and my inspiration for the years I have been with you. Together, we have made great and unforgettable memories.

“Together, we have won and celebrated 12 incredible Championships. I am really pleased to have achieved all of the great accolades with you without saving a single drop of sweat,” he added.

“Each victory was made sweeter by your unwavering support and by seeing the smiles all over your faces. Your cheers, your passion and your love have been the driving force behind my every moment on the pitch. Leaving is never easy, but I carry with me memories of joy, triumph and unity for representing ‘The Club of the Century’ with this generation of great players.

“Many thanks to the president, management, coaches, staff, the players and everyone who contributes to the club. Thank you for being my family, my inspiration and my greatest supporter. This isn’t a goodbye but a heartfelt “see you later.”
Meanwhile, Tau’s new club is currently embroiled in a battle to avoid relegation from the Qatar Stars League. They are placed 11th in a 12-team log standing after 12 games. (Farpost.co.za)
