Peter Viano, better known as Changamire Kode, has released his second album titled “Sango Rine Shumba”. Born in Mufakose, Changamire Kode started his musical journey in 1986 when he was still at school at St Peter’s Kubatana. In 2005, he released his first album, which was not very successful and did not receive much air play on the local radio channels.

“My first album did not do very well because I made a wrong choice in selecting a recording studio. It was a backyard studio named Chimbila Studio and also there was not enough airplay,” Viano said.

However, this did not put the optimistic one off because he continued doing live show performances for his fans. Viano has shared stage with Oliver Mtukudzi and Peter Moyo.

His music is inspired by the Chimurenga maestro Thomas “Mukanya” Mapfumo, that is why he also sing traditional chimurenga music.

“I love Mukanya’s music, I used to listen to him a lot growing up. He inspires me and my music,” said Changamire Kode.

From the second album, which is set to be launched soon, Viano warns his fans to expect fireworks and more live shows. He is sure that his second album will be a success.

“I am positive about this album because this time I have used the right recording studio which is Shade Studios owned by Peter Muparutsa and the audio quality has also improved compared to the last album,” he said.

Music is not the only work that Viano does, he is also a cross-border trader. He also works hand-in-hand with the youths in Mufakose, helping them with their projects.

“Sango Rine Shumba” is a seven- track album and it consists of songs like “Sango Rine Shumba”, “Mari”, “Baba Vevana”, “Mukondombera”, “Mwana Wandinoda”, “Nyakupanga Muchuno”, “Sarura Wako”. Viano sings about the social conflicts in the society, love and tradition.
