PETRA High School of Bulawayo will hold their annual Twenty20 Schools Cricket Tournament today with eight invited schools battling it out.
Churchill, Prince Edward, Eaglesville, Christian Brothers College, Kyle College and Milton are some of the teams participating in the event.

The tournament will be played over two days ending tomorrow.

In an interview yesterday, Petra High School sports director Themba Phiri, said the stage is set for the tournament.

“All the invited schools have confirmed participation and everything is in place for the tournament,” he said.

Phiri said they are anticipating a more competitive tournament than previous editions.

“Every year there is always improvement, but this year we are expecting even a more competitive competition because most schools have improved their game,” said Phiri.

The Petra sports director tipped the home side.

“Petra has a young side but I have faith in them and I hope they will use the home advantage to win the tournament,” said Phiri.

Defending champions Prince Edward will be looking forward to making it three in a row while Kyle College will be hoping to shrug off last year’s final match loss disappointment.

They lost to Prince Edward by seven runs in the final.
