Pilgrimage marked

Bulawayo Bureau
THOUSANDS of Catholics from the Archdiocese of Bulawayo yesterday thronged Our Lady Fatima Parish in Pumula South to commemorate their 13th annual pilgrimage. Speaking on the sidelines of the annual gathering with our bureau, Bulawayo Archbishop Alex Thomas said Catholics during this period world wide gathered to celebrate the ascension of Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ to heaven.

“Church members started converging here on Friday until today (yesterday) to celebrate this annual event,” said Archbishop Thomas.
He said the congregants came from places such as Nkayi, Gwanda, Plumtree and Esigodini.

“I commend church members this year for coming in their great numbers and urge them to have faith in difficult times despite any forms of hardships they may encounter,” said Archbishop Thomas.

Father Anthony Jansen, the priest of Pumula South Parish, echoed similar sentiments, saying this year they were encouraging church members to strengthen their faith in God.

“We have been encouraging church members to strengthen their faith in God, personal faith and faith within their families,” said Father                                             Jansen.
