a field day at Glenara Estates on Wednesday, Pioneer marketing manager Mr Simba Gotosa said Pioneer works with Agritex officers in advising its farmers.
“These officers play a pivotal role in educating farmers and for them to be able to reach many farmers they need transport. They do not have to compete to get motorbikes, as transport is a necessity for the officers to execute their duties,” he said.
Mr Gotosa said the donation was one of the ways through which Pioneer Hi-breed was paying back to the community. The bikes were presented to Mazowe district extension officers, Mrs Elizabeth Matsikidze and Esther Kawondera.
Speaking at the same function, Mashonaland Central Governor, Cde Martin Dinha expressed gratitude to Pioneer for the donation.
“It is good to give back to the community and I am also running a ‘Zunde raGovernor’ project where food is being produced for the less privileged in the province,” he said.
Cde Dinha urged farmers to utilise land to feed the nation.
“Those who were given land should make full use of the resource. We cannot have a situation where the country imports eggs, fruits and any other food when there are farmers,” he said.
Pioneer last year also assisted farmers through an input loan scheme and this did not require security.
The company also went into partnership with windmill and this saw farmers getting fertilisers on credit.
