Scheme beneficiaries showcase success

Chairman of the group, Mr Jaison Pasadi, lauded President Mugabe for the input scheme.
He thanked the farmers for using the inputs wisely.
“It is good that you have managed to produce effectively from the inputs extended to us by the President. This is a way of thanking the President and guaranteeing that his efforts are not going to waste.
“The President will not hesitate to assist if he sees that people are making the best out of his schemes,” said Mr Pasadi.
The seed houses that supplied inputs for the Presidential Input Scheme were Seed Co, Arda Seeds, Pannar and Pioneer Hi-breed Pvt Ltd Company.
One of the representatives of the seed companies who attended the field day, Mr Simbarashe Gawa, encouraged the farmers to prepare their land on time to ensure good yields.
Mr Gawa is a seed agronomist with Pioneer Hi-breed.
“All farmers should prepare their fields in time. I urge all the farmers here to take their soils for testing so that they will know the amount of fertiliser needed in the soil for their crops,” said Mr Gawa.
Mr Gawa urged the farmers control weeds and apply optimum fertilisers.
One of the beneficiaries of the scheme, Mrs Joyce Chigumba, adjudged to have the best maize crop, was ecstatic saying the President had thrown a lifeline to her family.
“This year l have enough to feed my family and to send to the Grain Marketing Board to get an income.
“This would not have been possible if the President had not intervened with his scheme.”
