RESIDENTS of Nenyere, Shawasha and Tagarika flats in Mbare are experiencing low water pressure following ongoing water pipeline replacement works being undertaken by Helcraw Water at Morton Jaffray Waterworks.

Ward 4 Councillor Boniface Maburutse said the reduced water pressure was a result of pipe bursts and ongoing infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving the reliability of water supply.

“The flats received water on Wednesday, although the pressure was low,” Clr Maburutse said.

“The old asbestos pipes are being replaced with new ones. They are replacing the entire pipeline from Morton Jaffray.”

The replacement of the ageing asbestos pipeline is expected to improve water distribution once the project is completed, although residents may continue experiencing intermittent low pressure during the construction period.

The works form part of ongoing efforts to modernise Harare’s water infrastructure and improve service delivery through the replacement of ageing pipelines.
