FC Platinum yesterday dismissed a batting Bantu Rovers at Maglas yesterday.
Charles Sibanda’s strike in the third minute and a brace by exciting midfielder Rodwell Chinyengetere in the 19th and a penalty 69th minute was all the platinum miners needed to collect maximum points.
Bantu Rovers got their goals from Newman Sianchali and skipper Bukhosi Sibanda.
FC Platinum could have gone into the lead through Gift Mbweti with just thirty seconds into the match.
Marshall Mudehwe broke loose and fed Mbweti in the box but his effort went wide with goalkeeper Stephen Chimusoro at his mercy. Nqobizitha Masuku tore the Bantu defence when he sent a clever pass to Sibanda. The 2010 Soccer Star of the Year released a volley from his right foot that shook the roof of the nets with Chimusoro at the wrong side of the action
Elvis Moyo who gave his team a torrid time broke loose on the left flank in the 19th minute. He then found himself in the area with acres of space but he chose to pass the ball to the onrushing Chinyengetere. The former Hwange star let go a screamer that Chimusoro only manage to retrieve from the back of the nets. With a number of fans expecting a rugby score line Sianchali pulled one back when he caught the FC Platinum defence napping.
FC Platinum were then awarded a penalty in the 69th minute when Alex Chikwira in a bid to clear handled in the box and Kwekwe based referee Thabani Bamala who was close to the action pointed to the spot. Chinyengetere converted sending Chimusoro the wrong way.
Just after two minutes of celebrating goalkeeper Petros Mhari brought down Sianchali in the box and Bamala awarded the visitors a spot kick. The Bantu Rovers captain who had a good game sent Mhari the wrong way.
