HE was trusted with gas tanks, but he chose to spark pleasure instead.
A 26-year-old man from Gwabalanda found himself on the wrong side of the law after blowing close to US$3,000 of company cash — not on bills or business, but on soft sheets and self-indulgence at a fancy bed and breakfast.

Mxolisi Moyo appeared before Bulawayo Magistrate Steve Ramaboena facing theft charges and was remanded in custody until 10 July. He didn’t bother denying it as he pleaded guilty on the spot.
Prosecutor Josephine Gurazhira told the court that on 25 April, while working at Gasglove Gates, Moyo was given 36 tanks of 53kg LP gas by his employer Marvellous Nyathi to sell. He made the sales and logged the figures but when it was time to hand over the cash, Moyo had vanished with US$2,937.

“I booked a bed and breakfast,” Moyo told the court, adding that he wanted to “rest and enjoy himself.”
He claimed to have saved US$500 and offered it as part restitution. He appeared unfazed by the fact that the amount was a small slice of what he had burnt on comfort and cravings.

The case has become the talk of Gwabalanda suburb , where residents say Moyo traded tanks for temptation and turned company cash into a personal vacation fund.
Now he’s behind bars, facing cold cement instead of cozy cushions.
