POLICE ASSURE MBARE FARMERS, TRADERS, VENDORS OF THEIR SAFETY

POLICE have assured farmers, traders, vendors and buyers in Mbare that their safety is guaranteed.

Chief Superintendent Runwell Chipfurutse, Officer Commanding Mbare District, said provided the assurance.

He was addressing guests who attended the Mbare District Police Client Service Charter at Tsiga Shopping Centre.

“We’ve seen a decrease in criminal activities.

“Those who previously duped others through deceitful means are now behind bars serving their sentences,” he said.

“I feel honoured to speak to the vibrant community of Mbare, rich in history, culture, and artistry.

“Mbare’s market and transport hub are symbols of our robust community spirit.”

He added: “This charter demonstrates our dedication to serve with professionalism and integrity.”

“Every crime report will be treated as urgent and no complaint is too minor.

“We promise thorough investigations and prompt action,” he said.

Remarkably, crime reports have decreased – from 30,927 in 2024 to 29,322 last year.

“We are committed to maintaining peace and stability while respecting citizens’ rights,” he said,

“We must serve every citizen without bias. I encourage the community to report both complaints and commendable service.”

Mbare Constituency Member of Parliament, Martin Matinyanya, hailed the police’s efforts to reduce crime.

“We’ve observed a significant drop in crime rates due to this partnership,” he said.

“There was a time when we frequently heard of robberies but now those days seem to have passed.

“The community now recognises that police officers are here to protect them, making it essential to expose drug dealers and other criminals.”

The event featured performances from school children, including drum majorettes and poems against drug abuse, complemented by songs from the police band.
