Police constables pose as Zimra officials

Prosecutor Mr Tungamirai Muganhiri alleged that on September 20, Mutero had just disembarked from a bus from South Africa at Mbudzi roundabout. She was approached by Dambadzvuku and Mukaka who introduced themselves as Zimra officials working at the area. Dambadzvuku began to quiz her on how her property had entered Zimbabwe and demanded to see her declaration forms which she produced. After going through the forms, he indicated that some of the goods that she had were not declared.
Dambadzvuku immediately told her that she was under arrest and ordered her to get into their vehicle. The trio then ordered her to pay for her freedom or surrender her goods to the State. Mutero refused to give them a bribe or enter into their car and said she had no money. She was rescued by a passerby who notified the police about the incident, leading to the trio’s arrest.
