adminPOLICE in Mutare have launched a manhunt for three armed robbers who recently pounced on a man in Westlea before escaping with $1 300 in cash and a Nokia phone. Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the incident .
“Timothy Kombera (35) from house number 6, Reef Close, in Westlea, on August 4 at around 8.30pm, drove his Mercedes Benz registration AED5122 outside the gate to go to church. When he was about to close the gate he was approached by three unknown men,” said Insp Kakohwa .
“The robbers assaulted him and one of them drew a knife out of his pocket and pointed it on his neck and searched his pockets. He took a Nokia 226 valued at $100 and $1 300 cash.”
Insp Kakohwa said the other two suspects used an unknown object to puncture the right tyre of the car before proceeding to their vehicle, which was parked a distance away from the scene and drove off.
