Police hunt for murder suspects

Police have launched a manhunt for two Zaka brothers on allegations of killing a colleague during a beer drink while a Bindura man has been arrested for murdering a rival suitor, as police continue to express concern over such cases.

The whereabouts of Innocent Chari (22) and Enock Chari (22) are still not known. They are alleged to have killed the 39-year-old victim following an argument during a beer drink.

Investigations revealed that they stoned him to death.

In Bindura, Yusufu Sumani (33) was arrested for stabbing the victim aged 37 with a broken bottle after accusing him of having an affair with his girlfriend.

The incident occurred at Maganyani Business Centre.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed.

“The Police is appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Innocent Chari aged 22 and Enock Chari aged 22 who are wanted for a murder case which occurred on August 23, 2021 at Chapeta Village, Zaka. The suspects assaulted the 39-year-old victim with stones after an argument while drinking beer.

“In a related case, police in Bindura arrested Yusufu Sumani aged 33 in connection with a murder case which occurred at Maganyani Business Centre on August 20, 2021. The suspect stabbed the victim aged 37 with a broken bottle on the hand after accusing the victim of having an affair with his girlfriend,” he said.

He said investigations on the cases were still in progress and urged the public to desist from solving differences through violent ways.

Police remain worried over an increase in murder and hit-and-run cases countrywide as they continue to urge members of the public to respect the sanctity of human life.

This comes after police were investigating a number of such cases.
