POLICE in Matabeleland North are appealing for information leading to the arrest of two unknown men who broke into a house in Inyathi village, armed with a pistol, before making off with various items and cash.
The two suspects took advantage of the fact that the victim, Ms Sazini Maseko, lives alone and targeted her residence. The two broke into the house before one of them, armed with a pistol, forcibly opened the complainant’s bedroom. He pointed the firearm at the complainant’s head and demanded cash.
Matabeleland North provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Glory Banda, confirmed the incident, saying investigations were underway.

“Circumstances are that on October7, 2024 at around 0800 hours, a report of robbery was received indicating that the complainant was robbed of her cash and cellphone, all valued at US$710, at her homestead on October 6, 2024 at around 20:00 hours when she had retired to bed alone,” said Inspector Banda.
The complainant took a blue wallet from her wardrobe containing her national identity card and cash amounting to USD$630 and handed it over to the unknown assailants. However, they demanded more money, but the complainant stated that she had no additional funds.
The duo left the bedroom but returned shortly after, demanding her cellphone. They took the complainant’s cellphone, which had an Econet line 0771046131, from the bed and then fled the scene.
The total value of the stolen items is USD$710. Nothing has been recovered. A report was made, and the scene was attended by ZRP Inyathi-Famona base.
“We are appealing for information that may lead to the identification and arrest of the two armed robbers,” said Inspector Banda.
