POLICE are looking for two conductors who fled from a crime scene at the Kadoma Tollgate where two drivers, whose bus was stashed with drugs, were arrested.
The contraband has a street value of US$240,000.
“Police in Mashonaland West would like to applaud the public for supplying information that led to the recovery of the contraband and arresting of the suspects,” said Mashonaland West provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Ian Kohwera.
“We also urge people to continue working together with the police to expose drug traffickers, drug lords and peddlers so that they can be eliminated from the society as their actions are detrimental to the communities.”
The two conductors fled just before two drivers of a Mandeep Ndomboya Logistics Bus were nabbed.
The drivers are Cletos Mutavu and Luckmore Farai, who are both aged 43, and are employed at Mandeep Ndomboya Logistics Bus Company.
On Sunday, at around midday, detectives received a tip-off that a Mandeep bus, registration number AHG 0408, which was coming from Beitbridge, was loaded with contraband.
The detectives intercepted the bus at Kadoma Tollgate.
The two conductors escaped after noticing that they were being stopped by the police.
The bus was taken to Kadoma Police station where it was searched.
Forty pockets of dagga wrapped in blue, red and green were placed in a card box and sacks weighing approximately 83kgs.
There were also 80 100mls Astra pain syrup containers which were wrapped in black paper bags.
