POLICE in Bulawayo are looking for a domestic worker who disappeared after allegedly stealing $1 000 from her employer. The woman, Thabisani Siziba, is believed to be aged 20. “We are investigating a case where a domestic worker is alleged to have stolen $1 000 from her employer.

“For now the suspect is no longer at her workplace and is on the run,” said acting  Bulawayo police spokesperson for Bulawayo metropolitan province, Assistant Inspector Bekimpilo Ndlovu.

The incident occurred on Saturday at Arda Balu Estate, about 40km outside Bulawayo. Her employer Mr Philimon Lusinga who visited Chronicle newsroom said the woman had allegedly been in the habit of stealing things at her workplace.

“It happened on Saturday and she was alone at home. My wife had gone to visit our daughter at school and I went to look for cattle. I forgot to lock the bedroom.

“We wanted to use the money on Sunday but we discovered that it was not there. We asked her but she denied any knowledge of it and when we asked her for the second time on Monday she then disappeared until today.

“When the money disappeared we discovered that a lot of things had been disappearing in our house,” said Mr Lusinga.
He said he feared that Ms Siziba would escape to South Africa or Botswana.
