Police release names of Marondera helicopter crash victims

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of the five people who died in the helicopter crash at Kudenga Farm in Marondera on Wednesday.

In a statement, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the helicopter had five occupants, namely businessman Wicknell Munodaani Chivayo, Lucy Rujeko Muteke, Saneliswe Magagula, pilot Calvin Tafirei Soda and co-pilot Courage Mutavirwa.

“Reference is made to the Zimbabwe Republic Police post on its X handle regarding the helicopter crash which occurred on 30 September at Kudenga Farm, Marondera.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police reports that the scene has been attended by forensic scientists and other aviation experts,” Commissioner Nyathi said.

He said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are underway.

“Meanwhile, the police, in conjunction with the relevant experts, are conducting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the helicopter crash. More information will be released as investigations unfold,” he said.

Commissioner Nyathi expressed condolences to the bereaved families.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police expresses its deepest condolences to the bereaved families,” he said.
