Mumugwagwa/Get off the streets’’ is being conducted by the police in conjunction with other stakeholders. It started yesterday and will continue until there is sanity on the streets.
Among the vagrants, 13 were children while seven of them were adults who were taken to Harare Central Police Station for further investigations.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tadius Chibanda yesterday said some of the street people disappeared following media reports that they were going to conduct the operation today.
He said some of the 20 arrested yesterday were rounded up near the intersection of Leopold Takawira Street and Samora Machel Avenue.
“The operation is continuing and the main aim is to make sure that we get rid of all the people living on the streets,” Insp Chibanda.
