POLICE in Matabeleland South have appealed to members of the public for assistance in identifying the body of an unknown man who was found hanging from a tree in Maphisa last year.
In a statement, Matabeleland South acting provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Stanford Mguni urged relatives of any missing person to visit their nearest police station. He said the body was found hanging from a tree on 20 December last year in Maphisa.
“We are seeking assistance from members of the public in identifying the body of an unknown adult male of medium height and slim build who was found hanging from a tree. When the body was found, he was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms, black leggings, a brown jacket and white tennis shoes.
“The deceased’s body was found hanging from a tree branch at Tshibisinyoni Farm, Maphisa, on 20 December 2025. The body was suspended by a shoelace and was in an advanced state of decomposition. Currently, his remains are lodged at the United Bulawayo Hospitals Provincial Mortuary,” he said.
Assistant Inspector Mguni appealed to anyone with information that could assist in identifying the deceased to report to the nearest police station.
