The Zimbabwe Republic Police has intensified the training and capacitation of senior officers, with superintendents currently undergoing a Specific Training Course in Harare aimed at enhancing their capacity to combat crime and improve service delivery.
The course, which is being held at the ZRP Sports Club at Mkushi Academy, was officiated by Deputy Commissioner-General (Human Resources), Dr Mind Elliot Ngirandi.
National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, said the training was designed to strengthen both the operational and leadership capabilities of senior officers.
“The course is aimed at equipping senior officers with the skills needed to combat crime effectively while strengthening their administrative and leadership capabilities to enhance service delivery to the people of Zimbabwe,” he said.
The superintendents undergoing training are drawn from various districts and departments across the country and occupy key operational and administrative positions within the police service.
The latest training comes as the police service steps up efforts to continuously equip its senior officers with skills needed to respond effectively to emerging crime trends and improve the delivery of policing services.
In May, officers holding the rank of chief superintendent also underwent a training workshop in Harare as part of the ZRP’s ongoing training and capacitation programme.
The chief superintendents, who include officers commanding districts and those heading various departments and sections, were drawn from across the country for the workshop.
Police Commissioner-General Stephen Mutamba, who addressed the officers, urged them to remain professional in the discharge of their duties.
