FORMER Big Brother Africa (BBA) and Big Brother Mzansi (BBM) housemates Pokello Nare, Elikem Kumordzie (Polikem), Mandla Hlatshwayo and Lexi Van Niekerk (Mandlexi) are set to return to the big screen with the debut of their new reality shows.
While Mandla and Lexi, who fell in love on the set of Big Brother Mzansi last year are ready to turn up the heat on DStv’s Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161), lovebirds Pokello and Elikem are still shooting scenes of their show – Our World After in Ghana. Mandla and Lexi premieres on March 3 at 7PM.
BBM winner, Mandla said their show had been created for fans to be involved in their lives after the South African reality show.
“Mandla and Lexi has been created for those Big Brother Mzansi fans who want to know what happened after Lexi and I left the house,” Mandla said.
“But it’s also for everyone who wants to get an up-close view into what it takes to make a relationship work when two people are so different.
“Lexi is fire and I’m ice – but we’re forging a life together and we want to share that with viewers,” Mandla said.
“Our show is original and will take us beyond being seen as ‘Mandla and Lexi – the Big Brother couple’,” Lexi said.
“We face real life challenges now, and not those set by the producers of the show where we first met. This show will showcase our relationship as we go through different avenues and follows challenging ventures and paths.”
“I’m feeling super excited that the show is finally airing,” admits Lexi.
“I’m also a little nervous because we’re in a television genre that is filled with successful shows – but I’m sure Mzansi Magic viewers will be drawn into our world.”
Speaking from Ghana, Pokello said their show was similar to Mandla and Lexi’s as it was also for their fans to catch up with them.
“Our World After is basically about our life after BBA. We’ll let fans into our lives where they’ll see all the drama, the tears and love since the Big Brother Africa finale,” Pokello said.
She said they were wrapping up the last diary sessions and expected the show to hit television screens soon.
