A NIGHT of casual pool turned into a costly nightmare for a 31-year-old man who had his luxury Mercedes Benz snatched by a cunning stranger he met at a city eatery!
Police are on the hunt for a mysterious woman who allegedly used a game of billiards as a smokescreen to pull off the car theft right under the victim’s nose.
According to National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the shocking incident unfolded at a restaurant located at the bustling intersection of Josiah Chinamano Avenue and Mazowe Street on Saturday, 17 May, 2025.
The unsuspecting complainant was enjoying a game of pool with the unidentified woman when she allegedly executed her audacious plan. “While they were engaged in the game, the woman stealthily pilfered the car keys from the man’s jacket,” Comm Nyathi revealed.
Like a phantom, the woman slipped out of the restaurant unnoticed. Using the remote, she coolly opened the doors of the victim’s pristine white C200 Mercedes Benz. “She then sped off at high speed in the stolen vehicle, heading in the direction of Mazowe,” said Comm Nyathi.
The victim was left reeling, realising he had been played for a fool in the most expensive way possible.
Police are now appealing for any information that could lead to the identification and arrest of this crafty car thief.
“We urge anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious or has any information regarding this case to come forward and assist with our investigations,” Comm Nyathi said .
The bizarre incident serves as a stark reminder to be vigilant, even in seemingly casual encounters. Who knew a friendly game of pool could lead to such a shocking getaway?
