THERE will be an international pool tournament in Beitbridge this weekend featuring Patrick Banda of Zambia and Ishmael Mthethwa among others.The pool extravaganza that starts tomorrow and ends on Sunday, will be held at the Beitbridge Hotel.
Mthethwa ranked as South Africa’s number one pool player in the Under-23 category and Banda popularly known as Burger are expected to battle it out.
The match rules are simple; the winner is the first player to reach 11 frames.
Beitbridge Pool Association chairperson Sam Siment confirmed that all was set for the event.
“All is ready for the festival being sponsored by Beitbridge Hotel,” said Siment.
He said there would be curtain-raiser matches tomorrow evening at the same venue.
“The curtain-raisers will have pool players from Bulawayo, Harare and Zimbabwean champion Hillary Makamuri among many others,” he said.
Siment said on Sunday the Zimbabwean champion Makamuri is expected to close the festival by battling it out with the two guest players in a round-robin match.
