THE Footballers Union of Zimbabwe, an organisation that handles the welfare of soccer players in the country, hopes to breathe a new lease of life to out-of-contract footballersA by holding a three-day training camp in Bulawayo aimed at marketing the players.
The initiative hopes to attract Premier Soccer League and Division One coaches to watch the out of contract players and hopefully sign the players.
One such camp has already been held in Harare at the National Sports Stadium during the week.
Fifteen Bulawayo based soccer players have so far registered for the training camp whose actual dates and venue will be communicated by the FUZ leadership.
a?About 15 players have registered with us for the out of contract training camp here in Bulawayo and I am still waiting for the Union president for further details on the date and venue. The theme for this yearas edition is Game Changers a Protect Playersa Rights ,a? said a FUZ official, Herbert Dick.
In 2015 an out of contract players training programme had Warriors coach Callisto Pasuwa taking the players through their paces in a four-day programme.
The event was also graced by Zimbabwe Football Association, Premier Soccer League officials and a number of coaches.
