IT is now all systems go for the Independence Trophy finals which will be played on April 18 between Dongo Sawmill and Tanex Football Club.
Dongo are the defending champions.
Independence Day entertainment committee chairperson Enock Dzumbira said as a way of having gender balance, Tenax Queens and Faith Drive will play as curtain raisers.
“Gender balance is of utmost importance to us, so we will ensure that it is enjoyed in this year’s celebrations.
“Women are as important as men and so should get equal chances. We are hoping that in years to come, men will be curtain raisers for our women as they will be showcasing their talent,” said Dzumbira. He also emphasised on the need for every citizen to celebrate Independence Day.
“All Zimbabweans from all corners of the province are being invited for the 35th independence celebrations to be held at Sakubva Stadium on April 18.
“There will be lots of entertainment to suit people from various walks of life.
“We want to join the rest of the nation to celebrate this day in style as it remains significant that we are enjoying sovereignty after a protracted struggle,” he said.
As part of the entertainment, 3 Infantry Brigade will have its traditional mock battle among other forms of entertainment.
