EQUATORIAL GUINEA – President Robert Mugabe is in Equatorial Guinea to attend the 23rd Ordinary Heads of State and Government summit which begins tomorrow, 26 June 2014.

The summit which is running under the theme Agriculture and Food Security is expected to discuss Food and Nutrition, Resolving Armed Conflict on the Continent and Agenda 2063, Africa’s vision for the next 50 years.

Today, Zimbabwe is scheduled to represent Southern Africa at a New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) meeting where agricultural experiences will be discussed.

The country itself has registered huge successes in agricultural following national land reforms and Government support to farmers.

Last year, 1, 6 million households in small holder areas benefited from the Presidential inputs scheme, thereby ensuring household food security. Over 100 000 tobacco farmers also boosted production in that sector.
