President Mnangagwa has this afternoon left the country to attend the 46th Ordinary Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government scheduled for tomorrow in Durban, South Africa.
The summit, which South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is hosting at the International Convention Centre, will be held under the theme “Resilient, Sustainable and Inclusive Industrialisation through Infrastructure Development, Agricultural and Critical Minerals Transformation in Pursuit of a Just World”.
South Africa formally assumed the chairship of the bloc last Wednesday, succeeding its tenure as interim chair since November 2025, and will hold the position until August 2027.
President Mnangagwa was seen off at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport by Vice Presidents Dr Constantino Chiwenga and Dr Kembo Mohadi, State Security Minister Lovemore Matuke, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Nick Mangwana, Service Chiefs and Senior Government officials.
Meanwhile, Vice President Dr Mohadi will be Acting President.
