SADC Chairman, President Mnangagwa, has arrived in Maputo, Mozambique, where he will tomorrow join other Heads of State in attending the neighbouring country’s 50th Independence Day commemorations.

The President was welcomed at the Maputo International Airport by Mozambique’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Manuela Lucas and Zimbabwean Ambassador to Mozambique, Cde Victor Matemadanda.

The golden jubilee celebrations will be held at Machava Stadium, the same place where Mozambique’s founding President Samora Machel proclaimed the country independence from the Portuguese colonial regime in 1975.

At least 40 000 people are expected to attend the celebrations.

President Mnangagwa is accompanied by Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister, Professor Amon Murwira, Deputy Chief Secretary (Presidential Communications) Mr George Charamba and other senior Government officials.
