President Mnangagwa met South African King Misuzulu kaZwelithini and his delegation at State House in Harare today.
Speaking after the meeting, Zanu PF spokesperson, Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa said the King and his delegation are in Zimbabwe to underscore the role that historical and traditional institutions can play in addressing challenges that arose from colonialism and apartheid.
“He came here with a very powerful delegation which also included King Ndamase of the Amapondo Kingdom in South Africa,” Cde Mutsvangwa.

“As kings, they felt they have a role to play and they respect President Mnangagwa as a regional leader and as a liberation fighter.
“They did not want their message to be filtered through third parties, hence their request for a meeting with the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
“The meeting was very successful. They discussed how historical and traditional structures can come to play as we grapple with post-colonial challenges that come from our past.”

King Ndamase also underscored the role played by traditional leaders in building communities.
Traditional Prime Minister of the Zulu Nation Phathisizwe Chiliza said the meeting sought to ensure that there is peace and harmony in the two countries.
