President Mnangagwa has challenged Zimbabweans to push beyond the milestones set under Vision 2030 and aspire for even greater socio-economic transformation.
Addressing thousands gathered at the National Heroes Acre in Harare today, the President said the country must not be content with merely attaining upper-middle-income status by 2030, as outlined in the Government’s Vision 2030 development agenda, but must set its sights on a more prosperous and industrialised future.
Vision 2030, launched in 2018, seeks to transform Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy through accelerated economic growth, infrastructural development, technological innovation and improved social services.
It places emphasis on modernising agriculture, boosting manufacturing and mining, expanding energy generation and building world-class infrastructure to create jobs and improve livelihoods.
However, President Mnangagwa stressed the need to go further.
“We must boldly decide now, that we will not stop at upper-middle-income status or Vision 2030. Let us break the ceiling and see beyond the horizon,” he said.
The President’s remarks underscore his administration’s drive to position Zimbabwe as a globally competitive economy, leveraging its abundant natural resources, skilled human capital and strategic location in Southern Africa.
