“The maize we are giving you today was sourced by President Mugabe to assist the vulnerable people affected by drought.
“As you know the President has been at the forefront to assist people with inputs and has also sourced maize because of the drought that has affected most crops,” he said.
Cde Pasade commended President Mugabe for having the plight of people at heart.
“This maize will benefit everyone because President Mugabe is the President of every Zimbabwean.
“He has your plight at heart and will continue to look for more to help those in need especially the elderly and orphans,” he said.
Mbuya Esteri Chakadenga praised President Mugabe’s kind gesture saying she was also looking after orphans left behind by her late children.
She said the assistance would go a long way in improving their food sustainability.
“I would like to thank President Mugabe for this donation. We are not expecting much from our fields due to the erratic rains we received this year so this will go a long way in assisting us,” he said.
Cde Pasade said other districts in DCC5 will also receive grain from the President’s initiative.
