The Presidential Borehole Scheme has now moved to Glen View Area 8 where it plans drilling boreholes and fitting these with solar-powered pumps to serve 1 000 houses.
The project is part of Government’s effort to ameliorate water woes in urban suburbs.
The scheme which started in Chitungwiza early this year and is part of President Mnangagwa’s vision of providing clean water to all, including urban areas that have been run down by opposition parties since 2000.
President launched the scheme in Chitungwiza, and promised to deliver clean water across the country.
In an interview Prevail International general manager Ms Tendayi Sithole said the project is an ongoing process and would also be run in the rural areas.
Zanu PF shadow MP for Glen View North Constituency Martin Mambo thanked the President for delivering what he promised to the people of Glen View during the a cholera outbreak.
“The President once visited us during a cholera outbreak and he promised to deal with our water woes and now he is walking the talk.
Mambo said the boreholes will go a long way in alleviating the water predicaments in Glen View.
“We were going for more than a week without water but with this project we say goodbye to our water challenges. President Mnangagwa has walked the talk and proved to us that he is a listening President.”
The scheme’s chief executive officer, Mr Tempter Tungwarara, is on record saying they were planning on drilling 350 boreholes in Harare.
Other areas to get boreholes in Harare are Highfield East, Highfield West, Kuwadzana 6, Kuwadzana 4 in the Paddocks area, Kambuzuma, Mufakose , Queensdale, Chikurubi Maximum Prison and Support Unit.
